Tinning, or tin plating are widely used for corrosion protection of ferrous metals and products made of brass and copper, especially in food industry as tin is resistant to oxidation, and the majority of tin-based compounds are harmless. Moreover, wires used in radio engineering are coated with tin. Some component parts are tinned before soldering.

Methods of tinning (tin plating)

There are three ways tinning - hot, chemical and galvanic. Hot method of tinning is the most widely used, which provides firmly banding of the covering layer and base metal. With chemical method the coating is not as strong as with hot, and has a slightly worse appearance. For galvanic method special preparation of unstable tin compounds is required. Chemical method is mostly used for small parts plating.

Tin coatings are extremely flexible and can easily stand expanding, stamping and bending. The coatings have good adhesion to the substrate, provide good corrosion protection and well appearance.

 

SN-10 Series Chemicals for tin plating
(for items tinning in galvanic drums and suspensions)

 

Chemical composition:Chrome for tin plating

Tin sulfate: 30-40 g/l
Sulfuric acid (D = 1.84): 90-100 ml/l
SN-10 Brightening additive: 15 ml/l

Solution correcting:
SN-10 Brightening additive: 100-200 ml / KAH

 

Specification: matt, fine crystalline coating. Perfect for tinning of electronic components (cards) before soldering.

The chemical component is easy to operate, has low cost and is suitable for passivation in drums and suspensions.

Tinning is carried out at a temperature of 10-30℃ cathodic current density 1.0-3.0 A / dm2.

 

SN-20 Series Chemicals for brightening tin plating
(for items tinning in galvanic drums and suspensions)

 

Chemical composition:Chemicals for brightening tin plating

Tin sulfate: 20-35 g/l
Sulfuric acid (D = 1.84): 90-100 ml/l
SN-20А Active additive: 30 ml/l
SN-20В Brightening additive: 1-2 ml/l

Корректировка раствора:
SN-20А Active additive: 200-300 ml / КАН
SN-20В Brightening additive: 100-150 ml / КАН

Specification: white, brightening coating has good corrosion resistance and solderability.

The chemical component is easy to operate, has low cost and is suitable for passivation in drums and suspensions.

Tinning is carried out at a temperature of 5-20℃ cathodic current density 1.0-4.0 A / dm2.

Chemical composition:Chemicals for tin plating against discoloring

Active additive: 40-60 ml/l

Passivation technology:

Passivation of tin coatings may be carried out electrochemically with electrolyte containing active additives. The treatment of items is carried out at a temperature 50-70 ° C for 1-3 sec.

Specification: white, brightening coating has good corrosion resistance and solderability.

The chemical component is easy to operate, has low cost and is suitable for passivation in drums and suspensions.

The process consists of tinning - rinsing - passivation - rinsing - passivation - rinsing - drying.
